Yes. For a local business the Business Profile is where the calls come from, so it is the core of every engagement: categories, services, service areas, photos, posts, and a review system. If the profile is all you need, it is offered on its own as well.

How long until I show up in the map pack?

It depends on your city and how competitive your category is, but map-pack movement often comes faster than organic because the Business Profile and reviews move quickly. Meaningful movement inside 60 to 90 days is realistic once the profile and reviews are handled.

I serve a whole area, not one address. Does that work?

Yes. Service-area businesses are set up with service areas instead of a storefront pin, plus a page for each city or neighborhood you cover, so you can rank across your whole territory, not just the block your office sits on.
