About

Law Before SEO. That's the Difference.

I'm Ashikur Rahman. I hold an LLB and LLM in International Law from Rajshahi University, and I've spent the last 6+ years doing one thing: helping US law firms become visible on Google and AI search.

Most SEO professionals learn about legal practice from their clients. I learned about law before I ever opened a keyword research tool. That sequence changes everything about how I approach content, technical optimization, and the standards Google demands from legal websites.

I'm not an agency. There's no account manager between us, no junior staff executing your strategy, and no learning curve on what "personal injury" or "medical malpractice" actually means. You work directly with me.

Chapter 01

The Legal Foundation

I spent years studying International Law at Rajshahi University, earning both my LLB and LLM. The coursework covered case law analysis, legal systems, statutory interpretation, and how attorneys actually practice across jurisdictions.

At the time, I didn’t know this would become my competitive advantage in digital marketing. But studying law teaches you something that most marketers never learn: how to think like an attorney, how to structure arguments, and how to communicate complex legal concepts with precision.

When I write content about personal injury claims, I understand the procedural nuances. When I structure a page about medical malpractice, I know what “standard of care” actually means. This isn’t something you can Google in an afternoon.

Chapter 02

Finding SEO

In 2018, I discovered search engine optimization and immediately saw the connection. The analytical thinking that law requires maps directly to how SEO works: understanding intent, building evidence-based arguments (content), and following the rules of the system (algorithms) to achieve outcomes. I started by learning everything I could about technical SEO, content strategy, and local search. But instead of becoming a generalist, I focused on the industries I understood best: medical practices and law firms.
“I didn’t choose legal SEO because it pays well. I chose it because I actually understand the subject matter. That understanding is what makes the content authentic and the strategy effective.”
Over the next several years, I built dedicated practices for medical SEO and local search strategies, and began working directly with US law firms on everything from technical audits to complete website builds.
Chapter 03

The YMYL Specialization

Google classifies legal and medical content as YMYL: Your Money or Your Life. This means the quality standards are dramatically higher than what applies to most websites. Thin content, generic blog posts, and cookie-cutter strategies that work for restaurants and retail stores actively damage law firm rankings.

I’ve spent years developing a methodology specifically for YMYL industries. The Gold Standard page structure, E-E-A-T integration with attorney credentials mentioned 15+ times per page, SERP tone alignment, and the specific content patterns that satisfy Google’s quality raters.

This isn’t theory. Law firms in South Florida rank Top 3 for competitive personal injury keywords. Brooklyn firms dominate local search for their practice areas. Multi-practice firms across Florida have all seven practice areas ranking simultaneously.

The methodology works because it’s built on understanding what Google actually evaluates for legal content, not just what general SEO best practices suggest.

Chapter 04

AI Search & the Future

When ChatGPT launched and Google introduced AI Overviews, I saw the next shift coming. People weren’t just going to search for lawyers on Google anymore. They were going to ask AI for recommendations.

I started studying how AI systems extract and cite information. The patterns are different from traditional SEO: direct answer formatting, entity clarity, schema markup, and what I call “citability” — whether your content is structured in a way that AI can confidently reference and attribute.

Most law firm websites are completely invisible to AI search. The firms implementing AI search optimization now are capturing a first-mover advantage that will become harder to replicate as the market catches up.

This is where legal SEO is heading, and it’s a core part of everything I build today. Every website, every service page, every piece of content is structured for both traditional rankings and AI visibility.

Philosophy

How I Think About Legal SEO

Every decision — from which keyword to target first to how a page gets structured — is filtered through these principles.

These aren't corporate values written for a website. They're the actual operating principles that determine how your project gets executed.

Specialization Over Scale

Working exclusively with law firms and medical practices means deep expertise rather than surface-level knowledge across 50 industries. This specialization is the reason results are consistently stronger than generalist agencies.

Transparency, Not Smoke

No black-box reporting. No vanity metrics. You see exactly what's being done, why it's being done, and what results it produces. Rankings, traffic, leads — tracked monthly with full transparency.

Direct Access, Always

You communicate directly with the person doing the work. No account managers translating your needs, no junior staff executing strategy they don't fully understand. One point of contact, always.

Results Over Activity

Publishing 20 blog posts a month means nothing if none of them rank. Every action is measured by its impact on rankings, visibility, and client acquisition — not by volume of work produced.

Long-Term Authority, Not Quick Fixes

No PBN links, no keyword stuffing, no tactics that work for 3 months then trigger penalties. Every strategy builds compounding authority that strengthens over time and protects against algorithm updates.
